The dream was nurtured in time honored fashion by the Holy Spirit. As John & Pam began sharing the dream for A Jesus Church, there were many who encouraged them to pursue it.
In the fall of 2008, several of those people came together and formed a core group. After the first of the year, a meeting place was found, and a date was set for the official launch. Who would have ever thought that John & Pam would suffer the loss of their son in the midst of it?
On Thursday March 5th, their son, Nathan, went home to be with Jesus, just 3 days before Radiant held its first service at Portland Adventist Elementary School. The Gresham community poured out their love and support. Over 450 people attended Radiant's first gathering in the Portland Adventist Elementary School Gymnasium. Fulfilling a prophetic word spoken in previous years, Nathan officially helped launch the Church.
Years from now, people will still be talking about Nathan's contribution to the launch of Radiant. Make no mistake, he is dearly missed here on earth, but one can only imagine how anxious he is to meet each person in eternity whose life was impacted by Radiant. Someday, and maybe sooner than we think, there will be a glorious reunion in heaven among all of those who were partakers of this Grace.
In the meantime, there is a lot of work to be done. If you don't already have a church home, why don't you consider being a part of this dream?
Those connected with Radiant are intentional about being disciples of Jesus. A disciple is surrendered to the idea of becoming more like Jesus by doing the things that He did while He enjoyed constant fellowship with the Father. Discipleship, therefore, is not about religion-it is about relationship. Spiritual transformation occurs as Christ lives in us and we radiate His nature in the context of relationships.
Radiant team leaders are committed to demonstrating a servant's heart, and influencing from the bottom up. Their passion is to empower and equip others towards spiritual maturity and community impact: to mentor people in their search for, and development in, their God given gifts (1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12:6-8, Ephesians 4:7-13)
Radiant Life Groups identify and execute action plans for what we call Compelling Causes. Compelling Causes are impact strategies that meet concrete needs of individuals and organizations in our community, and that partner with strategic global opportunities extending compassion to the poor, the desperate and the lost.
